Easy Bread Machine Pan Cleanup Tip

Hello, my bread-baking friend,

Cleaning up your bread machine pan after using the DOUGH cycle doesn’t have to be a hassle! I’ve got a solution that works like a charm.

Here’s the backstory: I make several batches of sourdough bread every week. Oh man, that dough is sticky! Especially if your recipe uses a lot of water. I used to fill the pans with water and let them soak, but that turned out to be "no bueno." Raw sourdough bits down the drain? Not a good idea. Those bits would stick to my dishrag and make a mess of my sink.

Then I figured out a better way:

  • After scraping out the dough for shaping, let the leftover bits dry out. It doesn’t take long, and once dry, you can easily wipe them away with a paper towel and throw them in the trash—no sticky mess!
  • For the paddles, the dishwasher is your friend. They’re usually safe to pop in for a good cleaning.
  • Although you are welcome to wash out the pan by hand, I usually don't. Any tiny bits of dried dough left behind will make the next batch taste even better.

A quick heads-up: Most manufacturers don't recommend putting bread machine pans in the dishwasher.

This simple method makes cleanup quick and easy, so you can spend more time enjoying your fresh-baked creations.

Do you have a favorite cleaning trick when making bread? Hit reply—I’d love to hear it!
