My Picks for an Easy Easter Table

Easter always sneaks up on me.

I know many of you are gardeners and are already planting—or at least planning what to plant next. Here in North Texas, we’ve had a warmer-than-usual spring, so I want to be outside instead of in my kitchen. Even pulling weeds with the weed popper my husband bought on a whim feels rewarding when you’re not sweating.

But Easter is only one week away. Time to plan a menu.

I pulled together a few favorites from my kitchen that work especially well this time of year—from traditional Hot Cross Buns to colorful side dishes that brighten the plate without making extra work for the cook. Because so many of you are bread-makers, I included my Orange Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing in case you are serving breakfast or brunch instead of lunch.

🌷 A Traditional Favorite

Hot Cross Buns

Soft, lightly spiced, and perfect for Good Friday or Easter weekend.

🥕 Fresh Spring Side Dishes

Smoky Roasted Baby Carrots with Paprika

A natural Easter pairing that adds color without extra fuss.

Cheesy Rice Pilaf with Peppers and Peas

A natural Easter pairing that adds color without extra fuss.

Roasted Eggplant and Potatoes with Ranch Seasoning

Great if you want something a little different from the usual casseroles.

Roasted Edamame with Mushrooms and Balsamic Glaze

Another super-simple side dish you can cook in the oven alongside your meat.

🍊 Something Sweet and Seasonal

Orange Rolls (Bread Machine Dough + Cream Cheese Icing)

Topped with cream cheese icing, they’re a cheerful choice for brunch or breakfast.

However you’re spending the weekend, I hope there’s something here that makes your table feel a little more like spring.

Wishing you a peaceful spring weekend,

Do you like avocados? I eat half an avocado every single day for lunch at home using my recipe for Bread Machine Classic Sourdough Bread or this Sourdough Bread Machine Sandwich Loaf as a base. The challenge is saving the other half for the next day. Cut avocados can turn brown in what feels like a terrifying minute! I've tried: Plastic wrap pressed against the flesh (didn’t work well) A small avocado-shaped plastic container 👎🏻 Storing the half avocado in water in a Mason jar (works OK, but...

Hi Friends, If you’re shopping for a bread machine—or wondering why your pan looks worn—here’s a quick behind-the-scenes look at something most manufacturers never talk about: the nonstick coating. ⭐ Almost All Bread Machine Pans Are Coated Whether it’s called PTFE, Teflon, or “nonstick,” nearly every bread machine pan uses a slick coating so the paddles can knead without the dough grabbing onto the sides. Uncoated pans simply don’t release well enough for bread dough. ⭐ Is It Safe? Bread...

Slow cooker queso dip poured over Frito chips with salsa on the side

Do you have a Super Bowl tradition? We usually gather with a small circle of longtime friends, our married kids, and a few of their in-laws who live nearby. Nothing fancy—just football, lots of conversation, and a table full of food everyone looks forward to. This year, I’m bringing the queso dip and the candied pecans you see below, but any of these recipes would fit right in at a Super Bowl spread. If you’re still deciding what to make, I hope this gives you a few dependable ideas. All of...
